Bosch Invests In Australia

Whilst other OE suppliers are cutting back and reassessing their operations in Australia, Bosch have restructured much of their operation and turned the corner after a great year. It’s now been reported that they now have plans to move forward on the back of, wait for it….diodes!

GO Auto reports that Bosch has plans to expand their hugely successful power diode production facility. The diodes are used in alternators and sold worldwide and they believe they can double its diode production to 180 million units a year within five years. It’s also been reported that Bosch are planning other new manufacturing programs to follow, but they told us that this is confidential at this stage.

Bosch’s Australian President Gavin Smith said the power diode operation was now permitted to sell to anyone in the World and the company’s automotive engineering division, which employs around 200 engineers working on chassis controls and ‘comfort electronics’, was going from “strength to strength.”

To add to this growth Bosch Australia had recently been designated the group global “centre of competence” for trailer safety, which would entail the development and manufacture of new products. In fact Bosch Australia has been designated as the German automotive giant’s world centre for trailer safety.
