AHG Sells COVs To GPC

Just when you thought acquisitions in our industry were tapering off comes the news that AHG has sold their COVS spare parts operation to GPC, the name behind Repco, Ashdown-Ingrams.

The sale is rumoured to be worth around $45 million and makes GPC Australasia’s biggest aftermarket parts and accessories group.

WA’s Covs (formerly Coventrys) is a major auto parts, tools, equipment and consumables distribution company that has been servicing the automotive, mining and industrial sectors in Western Australia since 1929. In July 2011, Automotive Holdings Group (AHG) acquired the Coventrys automotive parts business and formed the new company Covs Parts Pty Ltd.

Automotive Holdings Group (AHG) is Australasia’s largest automotive retailer as well as the largest refrigerated food transport and warehousing provider. AHG have more than 150 car and truck dealerships operating in Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and New Zealand.

At this early stage we are unable to ascertain if COVs branches and Repco’s will be rationalised. Stay tuned.
